Aloha!

And the adventure has begun! Before we left for our long plane ride to Kaua'i, we took a moment to bask in the 4 degree weather of Chaska one more time to see what we were leaving behind for a month.

After a 3 hour flight to Los Angeles followed by a 6 hour one to our destination, we finally arrived in the city of Lihu'e... and immediately jumped to bed because it was 10 at night at Hawaii, which was 2 A.M. in Minnesota time.

But the next day allowed us to relax and explore the Marriott Hotel on Kalapaki Bay while enjoying the 80 degree weather. Time to make our Minneapolis friends jealous!

We also drove around the island to find some recommended spots and sites. One of those places was Spouting Horn, where the waves force air out of an opening in a lava tube. As demonstrated here:

We also would've gone to the Ki lauea Light house on the North Shore, but they just so happen to be closed on Mondays. Who knew?

Also, there's a lot of chickens on this island, like A LOT.

We were also given the opportunity to visit the town of Hanalei, the town where South Pacific was filmed. South Pacific just so happened to be a play one of us were a part of when they were in high school, and believe it or not, it wasn't the drama department geeks in the family...

He may not be younger than springtime, but it was some enchanted evening.

And we can't forget that craving Michelle has that we have to satisfy EVERY time we come to a Hawaiian island...

Ok... maybe she wasn't the only one with a craving...

And that completes Day 1 and 2 of our trip! We'll keep you up to date on our blog and Facebook for more details on our adventures! We'll see more of what Kaua'i offers in our next three days here before we head down under!
