Meandering in Melbourne

Next stop on our tour of Australia was the city of Melbourne, the capital city of Victoria and the second most popular city of the country/continent (however you wanna call it).

The city did have a lot to offer in terms of cultural exploration with art museums, however we weren't given as much to time to explore the full city as we were with Sydney. Regardless, we were still impressed with what we saw.

Since we spent one night relaxing, we were very active with exploring the big city the next day. It has a New York-esque feel to it.

Unfortunately due to a glitch with the picture uploads, the pictures here are chronologically backwards, so whether you want to start this from the bottom and work your way up or not, we'll still give you the full details on our trip through Melbourne.

We ended the day with a dinner riding a tram throughout a number of neighborhoods and near the ocean.

During our stay here, we stayed in a hotel in the middle of the second-oldest Chinatown in the world.

Earlier in the day, we took a bus tour to explore the architecture and gardens throughout the city.

The highlight of the tour was the Shrine of Remembrance, a memorial built to honor all the Australians lost in war following World War I. The effort put towards the architecture, ceremonies, and atmosphere is worthy of the people they're honoring.

After the bus tour, we visited the grounds for the Australian Open going on while we were staying. We didn't get the chance to watch it live due to our schedule, but it was thrilling to see the fans and the stadium the athletes were screaming in.

We may have not got to do everything in Melbourne, but we were glad we got to see a good chunk of what the city had to offer. Next up, we're hitting the beaches, jungles, and rain forests near the Great Barrier Reef!
